Charissa Benjamin is a seasoned communications professional with over 15 years of experience in a diverse cross-section of industries, specializing in restaurant, hospitality and lifestyle PR. Charissa’s industry experience includes managing PR and marketing campaigns for notable companies within the restaurant, spirits and wine, airline, automobile, traveling entertainment and publishing sectors. Her skills have been keenly developed while working within both PR agency and internal communications environments.
Before launching Savor PR, Charissa was PR Director for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ Mid-Atlantic region, where she managed communications for restaurants in Washington, DC, Alexandria, Va., Baltimore and Philadelphia. Through strategic planning, trend watching and consistently building press and industry contacts, she has successfully placed stories in The Washington Post, Washingtonian, Washington City Paper, The New York Times, National Public Radio, USA Today, Associated Press, BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, Every Day with Rachel Ray, CNN’s Eatocracy and more.
Elaine Mazanec is a skilled communications professional with experience in the hospitality, restaurant and non-profit sectors, and a passion for food, wine and travel. Prior to Savor PR, she was a Public Relations Specialist for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, where she handled public relations in the Mid-Atlantic region for seven restaurants and a boutique wine shop and market. In that role, she built close relationships with journalists covering the industry, and counseled the chefs, general managers and restaurant operators on everything from media relations to industry trends, social media strategy and event execution.
Elaine also worked at the public affairs powerhouse, APCO Worldwide, where she provided clients with strategic counsel regarding corporate responsibility platforms and programs, media strategies and stakeholder outreach. She has experience coordinating national public health campaigns, including the “Vaccinate Your Baby” campaign with celebrity spokesperson Amanda Peet.
Annie Plotkin is a fresh face in restaurant PR with a background in experiential and social media marketing. She is passionate about food, food media, and the restaurant sector and is excited to combine her love of food and to-do lists as a PR Associate at Savor PR.
Annie’s passion for food began with making eggs on weekend mornings, while reading Ruth Reichl’s food memoirs. Her first job was in a gourmet hot dog shop where she actually learned how to make sausage and she has only expanded her food horizons from there. She started her career in the restaurant PR world as an intern for Baltz & Co. the summer following graduation from college.
Annie graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a degree in history. She was born and raised in Sleepy Hollow, New York and loves spooky things, Queen Victoria, and food photography.
